DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR MEDIA BOROUGH MAYOR, JOI WASHINGTON, EARNS ENDORSEMENT FROM THE COLLECTIVE PAC
Media, Pennsylvania -- Democratic candidate for Media Borough Mayor, Joi Washington, earned the endorsement of The Collective PAC, the nation’s largest political action committee dedicated to increasing Black political representation across all levels of government.
“Joi has proven her record of putting the people of Media Borough first, so we are thrilled to support her in her candidacy for Media Borough mayor. We look forward to helping ensure she gets elected on Nov. 4,” said Stephanie Brown James.
Joi is a graduate of Moore College of Art & Design with a BFA in Illustration. She originally from the Germantown section of Philadelphia and I moved to Media in 2013 for a job. From there, Joi quickly fell in love with the Media Borough’s walkability, public transportation access, and vibrant community—it truly felt like it was the hometown she had been searching for in her adult life. Joi embraced a car-lite lifestyle because everything she needed, from Trader Joe’s to unique gift shops and great restaurants, was just a short walk away.
As a Media resident, Joi still loves walking to her neighborhood Trader Joe’s, to the relaxing parks, and experiencing outdoor fun during Dining Under the Stars. In her downtime, Joi connects with art and illustration to strengthen her creative skills. She also enjoys reading and audio books from her local library which are important to have in any neighborhood.
Founded in August of 2016, The Collective PAC has endorsed and supported hundreds of Black candidates over the past nine years and have helped 500+ candidates win general elections at the local, state and federal levels across the country. The organization works to rectify the underrepresentation of the Black community in elected seats of power throughout America. Their website notes that in order to reach political equity – a place where Black elected officials represent the community’s population statistically – Black people should hold at least 13% of all elected offices in the U.S.
“Having the support and backing of The Collective PAC truly means a lot,” said Joi Washington. “Their organization works tirelessly to elect candidates who represent the interests of the diverse Black community across the country and I’m grateful to have them in my corner”.
